As a manager, these are the steps you will need to follow to advertise job opportunities.

UBC Careers Website

Postings Date

  • Posting dates will be automatically adjusted if the job opening approval is received after the original posting date.

Postings

  • Postings appear on the UBC Careers website at midnight on the opening date and are removed at 11:59pm the day before the posting end date. For example, if the posting end date is June 1st, the posting will be visible on the Career site until 11:59pm on May 30th. The posting will not be visible as of June 1st.
  • Positions must be posted for a minimum of 5 business days to a maximum of 30 calendar days.
  • Postings that did not identify a successful candidate may be extended. Please contact your recruiter.

CUPE 2950

  • Positions of 3 months of longer must be posted. (3 months = January 1-March 31st not January 1-April 1st which is 3 months plus a day).
  • Initial postings are generally recommended to be for the minimum 5 day period as there are often recall/placement candidates and internal candidates to consider first. Therefore posting for extended periods or on external websites is generally not recommended for initial postings.
  • If the initial posting did not identify a successful candidate, you may elect to advertise externally. The posting must be re-posted/extended on the UBC website. Direct applicants from the external advertising to apply via the UBC website. the same prioritization of applicants for the re-post is required, as there will likely be additional internal candidates to consider from the second posting.

M&P

  • Positions of 12 months or longer must be posted (12 months = January 1st-December 31st not January 1st-January 1st which is a year plus a day).
  • When a position has a highly specialized or unique skills set, you may decide to advertise an M&P position externally. This is permitted provided the posting appears first on the UBC careers website. Direct external candidates to apply via the UBC Careers website.

TRA’s

  • Positions of 12 months or longer must be posted (12 months = January 1st-December 31st not January 1st-January 1st which is a year plus a day).
  • When a position has a highly specialized or unique skills set, you may decide to advertise a position externally. This is permitted provided the posting appears first on the UBC careers website. Direct external candidates to apply via the UBC Careers website.
